About the artist

You do not choose art. It chooses you.

2006 Diploma in Interior Design (PMCI - Indonesia) 2007 Scholarship at Accademia d'Arte Leonardo Cappiello (Firenze - Italia)

My works follow my mental state and how I feel. I work with imagination; with flower and blood, with calmness and chaos, with the beautiful light and the insidious darkness. Think of them as nebulae, formed after different parts of me underwent gravitational collapse. Crazy, but at the same time careful and formulated. Gerald Scarfe and Mark Wilkinson have inspired me since I was little. P. S. Krøyer, Per Krohg, and of course Bendik Riis came into my life after I moved to Norway. I am also a fan of i.a. Odd Nerdrum, Elisabeth Werp and Tonje Moe.

Most of my works are surreal. Many of them came to me in my dreams, literally. I have a habit of waking up immediately to make simple sketches and write down the colors I "see" in the dream. In case the "dream well" is empty, I listen to music, because then I see colors and shapes that come alive before my eyes.

I have tried to abandon art once upon a time. I was wrong, because an artist can never separate themselves from the voice of their soul even if they desperately want to. Only when I myself became seriously ill, I understood that art was the only thing that had helped me continue to feel, love, and heal through the darkest moments. It finally came to my understanding that one must choose art as the labour of love, as the ultimate way back to peace and salvation.
