FBI agent Joe Pistone (Johnny Depp) infiltrates the mafia under the cover name "Donnie Brasco" and eventually becomes a trusted associate and friend of mafia member Benjamin "Lefty" Ruggiero (Al Pacino) who is a soldier in "Sonny Black" (Michael Madsen)'s group. This makes his life increasingly complicated and dangerous.
In the late 1970s, FBI agent Joseph D. Pistone is tasked with infiltrating the New York City-based Bonanno family. His name is Donnie Brasco and he poses as a jewelry expert from Vero Beach, Florida. He later becomes acquainted with Benjamin "Lefty" Ruggiero, soldier of the Bonanno family and Dominick "Sonny Black" Napolitano, who is the capo and boss of Lefty's crew.
