Malabo

Gorillas are magnificent creatures, and they facinates me in a special way. Their strength combined with the depth in their wize eyes.

This is a piece in the series where I interpret 10 selected photographies by the talented photographer Alberto Labrador into paintings. I use my characteristic technique of dark backdrop and a colorful pourpaint with metallic pigments. I think it creates a dramatic effect and makes the colors really pop. To me it is important to capture the expression of the being, as though you can see into his soul. Make you wonder what he is thinking about. Alberto is doing me the favor of naming the paintings in this series, and this one is named Malabo as it is the actual name of this particular gorilla.
