"Bad to the bone"

Hanna Aarrestad is a mixed media artist who primarily works with thread on paper and photography. The sewing technique is often combined with spray paint, fabrics, and acrylic paint. She navigates between street art and pop art, maintaining an experimental and fearless approach to her art, resulting in an ever-evolving expression. Her inspiration is drawn from around the world, often with a political edge. Hanna has chosen to work with thread and paper because it provides a sense of resistance while working, and it also plays with masculine and feminine principles; the soft thread is strengthened in the pattern, and the hard paper becomes vulnerable when met with the needle.

She spent a year studying fine arts at Kingston University and holds a bachelor's degree in film from the University of Essex.
